We made it!
A whole three years of wedded bliss. Matt and I were married on Columbus Day weekend, 2006 mainly so that our families and friends could take a three-day weekend and come to San Diego for the nuptials. The hidden benefit of this date is that we also get a three-day weekend every year for our anniversary.
Nice.

Last year, we took a day trip to lovely Julian, CA for a Woodland Family Autumn Escape. It was such a great time that we decided to just make it a tradition and head there again this year! It was the perfect day for it; 45-degrees, leaves changing, crisp and cool enough to see our breath…absolutely beautiful!

Matt was excited because he knew that we could go to “Mom’s Pies” and he’d have his choice of their many varieties of yummy Apple Pie. I was excited because I got to dust off my favorite Ugg Boots and beanies and feel all snuggly and fall-ish despite the fact that we live in San Diego.

There was lots of opportunity for eating, strolling, snuggling, and just enjoying nature and the day. One of the best things we did, though, was take “the road less travelled” as it were. Actually, our good friends, Meleah and Buck, had just gone up to Julian a few days prior, but they took a different road to get there. Buck mentioned to us that he really liked this one spot on the drive, and so Matt and I took this route on our way up this time. It was WELL worth it! We got to stop at this little lake where there were tons of ducks waddling and quacking away! Also, just as we pulled up the fog began rolling in on the lake and it was gorgeous! I felt like it came in just for us. We had the greatest day, and can’t wait for out Anniversary Weekend next year to do it again!
