A Labor (Day) of Love 2009

This past three-day weekend was absolutely beautiful! The weather here in La Jolla could not have been more perfect, and we took full advantage of this great *San Diego Summer* which typically runs August-October.

We decided to kidnap our friends Buck and Meleah Borgquist for the ENTIRE DAY and had way too much fun lounging around! Labor Day started off with a nice round of golf for Buck and Matt, while Meleah and Kelly took a LOOOOOONG walk around the trails near our house.

After that it was off to the pool for the rest of the morning and into the afternoon. Well, turns out basking in the sun can really work up an appetite! We soon had to call in reinforcements in the form of the beautiful Corbett Family who joined us for a group pilgrimage to Phil's BBQ in Point Loma.
DELICIOUS!!
Okay, now I have to tell you that it seems that strange things happen to us almost too frequently and this seemingly simple BBQ Lunch was no different! We arrived safely at Phil's with little to no issue. We soon ordered and had to sit out on the HOT back patio because apparently everyone wanted Phil's BBQ! Well, just as our food was arriving, a table opened up in the air-conditioned bar, so we all quickly hurried inside. In the hustle, our digital camera was left outside within eyeshot but out of reach for approximately 15 seconds. As Buck returned to grab the rest of our group's things (camera included) he saw a middle-aged man walk outside to the abandoned table and sneak the camera into his pocket!! Matt followed Buck back out to the table, essentially trapping the thief between the two of them. Buck asked Matt if that was our camera on the table and Matt (unaware of the burglary) replied by saying, "Yeah, did you grab it??" Buck stopped, looked at the camera-snatcher and said, "No, THIS GUY has it!!!" while pointing at this 50-year-old man!!! Well, the guy knew he had been caught and proceeded to silently take the camera back out of his pocket and sheepishly hand it to Matt. It's sad that people can be so dishonest!

Thankfully, the food was plentiful and tasty as always! Despite the strange beginning to the meal, we all stuffed ourselves silly and had a blast!

All in all, Labor Day 2009 was a success, we can't wait for our next long weekend!

My guess is that your next long weekend will involve the next highly anticipated BYU football game. We hope to see you while you are here!!!
