Kelly's Mom came to visit recently, and it was just a great weekend all around!
First off, it needs to be explained that everytime Kelly's mom, Kitty, visits the weather is simply AWFUL...but not this time!!! The sun was shining and warm the whole weekend!
To kick off the long weekend Kelly, Megan, and Kitty headed out to Point Loma and the Cabrillo National Monument to hike on the bluffs and check out the Tidepools. (I feel that I must interject here and explain that Kitty is a third grade teacher and exclaimations of "Look at how Starfish attach to Rocks!" and "How many kilowatts do you think it takes to power San Diego, kids?" are a lifelong part of family outings in the Mikulecky family) Educational moments abounded in this setting!!!
After all that physical and brain activity, everyone was HUNGRY! So the ladies grabbed Matt and headed to "Old Venice" in Point Loma for some delicious Italian grub!! As you can see, the Pizza Monsters were out in full-effect and Kelly and Matt enjoyed the delicious Cioppino and world-famous garlic bread as well!!
After dinner everyone walked through a beautiful neighborhood in Banker's Hill and even found a suspension bridge over Balboa Park! Kelly was a bit nervous about the rocking and played the role of photographer instead...but Megan, Mom, and Matt were willing to brave the treacherous bridge for these great shots!
The next day, Mom, Megan, and Kelly headed downtown for a day of shopping, lunching and theatre (props to Megan for hooking up tickets to a Hilarious play at the Old Globe Theatre).
At the end of the weekend it was agreed that everyone had a GREAT time...and hopefully Kitty will be back soon!
