I am proud to call Matt my husband for many reasons:
1. He is an AMAZING athlete- and has been on world champion of the world winning teams in both the San Marcos City and Church basketball leagues {at 6'0" on a good day, this is a sheer feat of amazement}as well as winning the "Abs Challenge" and the "CalBT bench-pressing 255lbs. 3 x's Challenge of 2009" Don't ask.
2. He will argue and/or back his opinion until the end of time {some call this stubborn, we Woodlands call it follow-through}
3. He is really, really great with money/savings/and pretty well single-handedly keeps us below the upper and above the lower classes. {We would be destitute and paying mortgage to Anthropologie if it were ever left up to me}
Recently, on an ominous day in mid-May 2011, these outstanding characteristics came together in a perfect storm to battle our first real snafu as homeowners in the form of the following:

| oh the HORROR!!!! |
A CRACK!!!! But not just any old crack! Oh no, this crack appeared seemingly overnight leaving in it's wake a guest bathroom toilet rendered useless, and a veritable ocean of toilet-tank water across our beautiful tile floor. Better yet, said crack also chose the day after our one-year homeowners policy expired leaving us to our own devices for repairing and/or remodeling our whole front bathroom!!
And so...Matt jumped to action! Immediately he had scoured the internets looking for the best "deal" on toilets. Within mere days he had received 2 plumbing quotes, 3 quotes for renovating the whole bathroom, had measured once, measured twice, and measured again, and then had a few of his friends over to measure and hold court over the travesty that had become our unusable loo. Soon, he had down the seemingly impossible- procured us a new toilet {one that had to be no less than 27 but no more than 30-inches tall} purchased all necessary accouterments, and had installed this little beauty ALL BY HIMSELF:
| ain't she PURTY?? |
I can not be prouder of my handy man! I could stop with just the fact that he DID it, despite the misgivings of all of those around him {mostly ME} and without any training, or support, but I won't! Kindly refer back to the beginning of this post and you will recall that my hubby is FRUGAL {that is *nice* speak for cheap} and so this entire project cost us $27.61- including the toilet!
I am so glad to be a homeowner with this guy on my team!
Love you Matt-man!
