We have been a bit busy...

FIGHTING FIRES!!!

We are so sorry to have kept everyone out of the loop for so long, but for our dear readers who may not have heard (ie. those of you who have been living in Yemen without the luxury of television or newspaper for the past week) our beloved San Diego has been under the duress of MASSIVE FIRES which have devestated over 100,000 acres of land and caused the mass evacuation of approximately 500,000 San Diegans from their homes all over the county. These are a few pictures Megan took from the freeway.

YES, it is DAYTIME in these pictures:

The past week has been one of the saddest I can recall for our community. There is literally no one who has not had a family member or friend affected by this natural disaster. Fortunately for us, our home only had mild smoke and ash damage.

The fires broke out on Sunday, October 21 and by Monday afternoon the whole city was in lock-down mode. No driving, no excessive water use, no cell phones, and limited electricity. Kelly's sister Megan and her roomates were evacuated from their home in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, and Megan came to stay with us! We made the best of a bad situation by venturing out Tuesday morning to the San Diego Blood Bank where Matt and Megan gave their respective pints~ and Kelly played the part of a really good Cheerleader and Doughnut/Orange Juice Gopher. Kelly does not donate blood. But at least these two were brave enough!!

All in all, it has been a rough week. Still, we are lucky to live in a city that has handled this disaster in such a timely and efficient way, and we are thankful to those who work toward saving the homes and livelihood of their fellow San Diegans.

We are so thankful for your thoughts, prayers, and especially EMAILS over the past week!

I still shudder at the rememberance of Megans lost pint of blood...that was a truly tragic tale of wo. I myself would have gone POSTAL on the dim-witted woman who 'kicked' it over.
I still think Megan gets the celestial points for donating. Bless her little heart!
